The inclusion of insect screens enables fresh air and good vision to be retained whilst insects are kept out. To be effective, an insect screen will require a frame around the opening which needs to be as discrete as possible or built-in. When considered early in a project, insect screens can be concealed within the structure around windows, doors and roof lights.

Insect screens for windows

Individual screens are often installed for opening windows, these can be either top-down, slide-across or fixed. Screens can be fitted both internally or externally, depending on the window configuration. The screen’s frame can be powder coated to match the window frame or recessed into the wall.

Insect screens for sliding doors

Both top-down and slide-across solutions are available for wide width openings up to 12 metres and or 6 metres high, depending on width. Similar to insect screens in windows, frames can be fitted internally or externally and powder coated to match the door frame or recessed into the wall. Considerations need to be given to the threshold detail which is best built-in so that it is flush at the floor level.

Insect screens for roof lights

Both retractable and fixed solutions are available for opening skylights. These can be concealed in Blindspace® boxes around the opening. Standard solutions up to 3 metres square, custom solutions available on request. Dual solutions can include blinds and insect screens within the same concealment housing.

Motorised and manual insect screens

Both manual and motorised screens can be provided for all situations. Electric screens can be controlled by remotes, smartphone app or by sun and wind sensors and connected to the home automation system. Different motor and control systems are available.

Concealed insect screens

In the same way as blinds, with planning insect screens can be fully concealed within the building structure around windows, doors and roof lights. Built-in solutions are becoming increasingly popular to be included within new houses.
